How to answer "tell me about yourself" in English
It's the first question in almost every interview, and it's a trap for non-native speakers: too short sounds unprepared, too long sounds unfocused, and a life story in shaky English loses the room before the real questions start.
Use a simple three-part structure — present, past, future — in about 60 seconds. Present: who you are professionally now ("I'm a data analyst with four years in logistics"). Past: one or two achievements that matter for this job ("At my current company I led a project that cut delivery times by 15%"). Future: why this role, now ("I'm looking for a role where I can work on larger datasets, which is why this position caught my eye").
Then rehearse it out loud, because a good answer you've never said aloud falls apart under nerves. Say it to Airi as the interviewer; she corrects the grammar inside her reply and asks the follow-up questions a real interviewer would. Ten repetitions and it comes out smoothly on the day.
