Practise making friends in English

Studying or working abroad, or in an international team, you can be surrounded by people and still feel alone — not because you're shy, but because friendships are built in small, fast, casual conversations that no textbook prepared you for: jokes, plans, opinions, reacting naturally to what someone says.

Airi is a low-pressure place to practise exactly that. Rehearse starting a conversation with a classmate or colleague, reacting to what they say, sharing something about yourself, and suggesting plans ("Do you want to grab lunch sometime?"). The more natural it feels here, the easier it is out there.

A quick example with Airi

Hey! I'm in your Tuesday class, right? I'm Sam. How are you finding it so far?
Hi Sam! Yes, I think so. It is okay, but the reading is very much.
Small fix: "there's a lot of reading." Tell me about it — are you doing the essay this week?
Yes, I started yesterday. Maybe we can study together in the library sometime?
That's a great invitation — natural and friendly. I'd love to! Thursday?

How to get the most from it

React, then add

"Oh really? Me too — I…" Reacting to what someone says is how conversations become friendships.

Suggest something small

"Want to grab a coffee?" is easy to say yes to. Practise it.
