How to think in English

If you translate from your own language in your head before every sentence, speaking feels slow and exhausting. Thinking directly in English is what makes you fast and fluent — and it's a skill you build, not a talent you're born with.

You build it by using English in real time, so often that reaching for the translation becomes slower than just saying it. Conversation is the best training, because it doesn't give you time to translate — you have to respond. A patient voice partner lets you do this daily without pressure.

With Airi, talk about simple, familiar things and answer as fast as you can, even imperfectly. Over weeks the English starts to come first and the translation fades. Naming things around you in English and thinking short thoughts in English through the day speeds it up further.

"Because it's cheesy and warm." See how quick that was when you didn't translate?
