How to practise English speaking alone

If you have no one to speak English with, the usual advice is to talk to yourself, read aloud, or narrate your day. These help a little, but they share one flaw: nothing answers back, so you never practise listening and responding, which is what real conversation is.

The alone-practice that actually works is talking to something that replies. A voice AI answers you in real time, understands you, and corrects you — so you get true two-way practice without needing another person or a schedule. It is the difference between rehearsing lines and having a conversation.

Start with a few minutes a day: greet Airi, tell her about your day, answer her questions. Read a short text aloud and ask her to check it. You are never really practising alone again — just privately, on your own time, which is exactly what most learners need.

A quick example with Airi

I don't have anyone to practise English with.
You can practise with me any time — and I'll actually answer, not just listen. Let's begin: what did you do today?
I study English and I cook dinner.
"I studied English and cooked dinner." Nice! What did you cook?

How to get the most from it

Talk to something that replies

Reading aloud is fine, but two-way conversation trains far more. A voice AI answers back.

Set a tiny daily slot

Five minutes after breakfast or before bed. Alone practice works when it's a habit.

Read aloud, then check

Read a paragraph to Airi and ask her to correct your speaking.

Frequently asked questions

Can I really practise speaking by myself?
Yes — best with a partner that responds. A voice AI like Airi gives you real two-way practice alone, any time.
Is talking to myself enough?
It helps a little, but it never trains listening and responding. Talking to an AI that answers does.
Do I need to pay?
No. You start with 300 free credits and no credit card.
