What is an AI English speaking partner, and does it work?

An AI English speaking partner is a voice-based AI you actually talk to: you speak, it listens, understands, and answers out loud in real time, like a patient conversation partner who is always available. Unlike a grammar app, it exists for one thing — getting you to speak more, and better.

Does it work? For speaking, yes, because it gives you the two things fluency needs: lots of real-time speaking, and gentle correction while you talk. It won't replace a human friend, but it removes the barriers that stop most people from practising at all — no scheduling, no cost per hour, no embarrassment.

Airi is built as exactly this kind of partner. She replies within a couple of seconds, fixes small mistakes without interrupting the flow, plays roles for interviews and exams, and remembers your name and what you talked about last time, so each session picks up where you left off. You start free, with no card.

A quick example with Airi

What can you actually help me with?
Speaking practice, mostly — conversations, interviews, exam tasks, and gentle correction as we go. Let's start simple: what did you do this morning?
This morning I go to the gym and then I work.
"I went to the gym and then worked." Nice routine — how long did you train?

How to get the most from it

Use voice, not text

The value is in speaking. Talk out loud and let it answer out loud.

Practise daily

Short daily sessions beat long weekly ones. Consistency builds fluency.

Ask for roles

Interviewer, examiner, client, customer — role-play is where it shines.

Frequently asked questions

Is an AI speaking partner better than a human tutor?
Different. A tutor gives expert, personalised teaching; an AI partner gives unlimited, low-pressure speaking practice any time. Many learners use both.
Does it correct my mistakes?
Yes. Airi corrects gently, in the flow of the conversation, so you learn without being interrupted.
Is it free?
Airi starts free with 300 credits and no credit card. Paid packs are optional after that.
