Practice English phone calls
Phone calls are the hardest kind of English. There are no facial expressions or gestures to help you, the voice can be unclear, and you have to respond instantly. Many confident speakers still dread the phone.
The only cure is practice on the phone itself — and that is exactly what Airi is. She is voice-only by nature: you speak, she answers, with no visual crutches. Rehearse booking an appointment, calling a company, leaving a message, or handling a call you can't quite hear, until the phone stops being the scary part.
A quick example with Airi
How to get the most from it
Practise the opening
Rehearse how you start a call and state your reason — the first few seconds are the hardest.
Ask people to repeat
Practise "Sorry, could you say that again?" so it feels natural when you really need it.
Leave a voicemail
Ask Airi to send you to voicemail, then practise leaving a clear, short message.
